G7ToWin Paris 4-6th December, 2005 From the 4-6th of December, 2005 Heather and I were in Paris, France.
We took in a few sites in the evenings after I was finished with work.
RER Denfert Rochereau RER B line stop at Denfert Rochereau RER B line stop at Denfert Rochereau Waypoint SymbolAndName Catacombes The Catacombes are somewhere in this vicinity. We never actually found the entrance, though. Matter of fact, I found out after the fact that we walked right by the entrace. When we got off the RER, there was a sign \'Catacombes ->\' and that was the last indication that we were even near the area. French. The Catacombes are somewhere in this vicinity. Waypoint SymbolAndName Notre Dame I could have given confession here for 10 euros. Forgive me, father for I have sinned. It has been thirty years since my last confession... If you give your confession in English to a priest who only speaks French, does it count? I could have given confession here for 10 euros. We were almost mugged, raped, drawn, and quartered. No telling what they would have done to Heather. Never trust a woman to give directions. We were almost mugged, raped, drawn, and quartered. Thank you, Uncle Harris. We stayed here while in Paris. Pretty nice joint -- although a wee bit pricey. Thank you, Uncle Harris. Waypoint SymbolAndName Accosted by French Police Here I was accosted by a Parisian policeman. It went down something like this:
Police: *blabbing in French*
Jon: (whipping out the only French he knows)Je non comprend.
Policeman: (certain of his French superiority) *more French babbling, this time with hand gestures*

It was at this point, after the policeman threw me against the wall and beat me over the head with his club, that my lovely wife finally translated for me that Mr. Policeman wanted me away from the building I was leaning against.

Jon: (breaking out the second phrase he knew) Pardon
Exit, stage whatever.

Musée du Louvre This probably tweaked me more than anything on the trip. We head to the Louvre to see some art. Super, says I, Monet\'s water lillies would be great. But, wait, the French have decided to showcase worthless statues by unknown French sculptors instead of Monet\'s? French. This probably tweaked me more than anything on the trip.
